Can I Take My Loved One on a Vacation?

The truth is that many residents of nursing homes or assisted living facilities often don’t get to leave for something like vacation. However, they can take a short leave to spend time with family or friends during the holidays.

Especially for those in nursing homes, they may not be physically capable of such an extended trip or time away. It is important for them to be able to receive the care that they need in order to live a healthy life, but that doesn’t mean that they’re just stuck in some facility with nothing at all to do with their time. Places like assisted living facilities, as well as nursing homes, often have activities for the residents to participate in, so they shouldn’t ever be bored.

However, it is also important for family members to be able to spend time with their elderly loved ones, so things like visits can certainly be arranged, and are very much appreciated by the elder themselves. Of course, many facilities have different rules when it comes to something like time away, so it’s best to talk to the facility administrator and see what can be done about it.
